If you are interested in neural rendering of live-action captured scenes, here is something fun for you to explore on your Windows PC today!

I wrote up a quick "getting started" guide to help people install the 3D Gaussian Splatting viewer run-time, along with details for the command-line syntax needed to load the pre-trained models.

If you find the 3D Gaussian Splatting program's viewport navigation process a bit funky, especially when compared to traditional DCC (Digital Content Creation) apps.

I wanted to do my best at making the Gaussian Splatting program easier and more accessible for novice users to experience during short demo sessions. To improve the navigation options, I prepared a new preset that allows a 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse input device to control the viewport window's camera translation and rotation controls.

The new "3DxGaussianSplatting.3dxz" preset can be downloaded here:

After you unzip the archive, the setting file is imported into the Windows based 3Dconnexion 3DxWare Utility (version 10.8.15.3625).
