Andrew, I'm curious if this sparks any interest to you.
When shooting VR180 content with a Canon R5c (and probably other cameras as well), each lens is able to see the other lens. So, you see the edge of each camera lens on the far side of the VR video frame. Canon's VR utility offers the option to apply a mask to cover the lenses.
But, there is a trick using a custom mask and alpha channels that can effectively remove those lenses from the frame - as if they were never there. So instead of seeing that mask, you see a clean frame. It's not a perfect solution, but it's shockingly effective in most cases. Here's a video that somebody posted, explaining how to do it in Premiere.

I started with that video and figured out how to make it work in Resolve. I set this up manually for each project using multiple layers and alpha channels. But, I wonder if it would be possible to make it work with a pre-made effect template.
I'm just curious if you have any interest in working on a Resolve effects template for this. If you don't have the time or interest, no worries at all. But, I'd be happy to offer any help I can.
