The Kartaverse "kvrCubic" fuse allows you to combine individual face based 90° FOV cubic imagery into cubemap based frame layouts like:
  • Horizontal Cross
  • Vertical Cross
  • Horizontal Tee
  • Vertical Tee
  • GearVR Horizontal Strip
  • Horizontal Strip
  • Vertical Strip
  • 2x3 YouTube
  • 3x2 YouTube
  • 3x2 Facebook
  • 3x2

The kvrCubic fuse is a useful workflow tool if you want to use a DIY panoramic camera rig to render out 180VR/360VR media in Resolve/Fusion v18.5 - v19+ using the new OpenUSD 3D scengraph nodes. The stock USD uRenderer node doesn't support a spherical camera rig natively.

The following example Fusion comps are included when you install the kvrCubic fuse using the Reactor package manager:
  • Demo Cubemaps v001.comp
  • Demo USD 1803D v001.comp
  • Demo USD 3602D v001.comp
  • Demo USD 3603D v001.comp
The example comps are more of a proof-of-concept thing to let tech artists explore what's possible today. In the future the examples could be packaged into tidy and simpler to use macro nodes with the top level UI controls added directly to the macro node GroupOperator "wrapper".

Also, there is room for improvement down the road with fuse based optimizations that could potentially stitch in a single step both the left and right eye cubemap views directly into a LatLong Stereo output. This would boost the rendering FPS rate compared to the use of dual PanoMap nodes and a Combiner node.
