LOl Biscuitt is a nice bloke .... one of the decent ones there, but £600 for
a router ... i hope it's a cisco one, and a good one at that .... but why
would an adsl router need to cost 600 quid? I thought even the decent ones
were only about 300?

£750 install ... seems a little steep bearing in mind the engineer only has
to go a max of 3.0k from an exchange and the only one that works out of hull
is driffield? So are they subsidising driffield by overcharging everyone
else?

Pete ... i reckon that if you have a business interest you should vote with
your feet and give that www.broadbandhumber.com crew a shout, also ring
tele2 from www.tele2.co.uk and register your interest there as well . They
were most helpful when i called them and are very keen to get into hull as
they think it's an untapped market that is sick of the lack of choice.
You've all given KCL a fair choice to sort this, played the game by their
rules and it's got none of you anywhere at all .... all they have shown is
their usual commercial arrogance.

They only need 100 interested businesses in the hull area to take an
interest and they will come in, on the back of that you can then use them
for their residential wireless dsl service:)

Nowt KCL can do about them if it doesn't use an exchange, also means we are
off their system and away from their capping etc etc. From what i can see
at any point you are only going to be 2 hops from one of their main
transmitters which are hardwired onto their 155Mb backbone.

Wireless DSL details.

24/7 Unlimited Internet Access
Download Speeds up to 512Kbps
Upload Speeds up to 256Kbps
Public IP Address (Dynamic)
Single User*
10 Email Addresses
20Mb Web Space
30:1 Contention Ratio

39.99 + VAT.
install 150 + vat

But remember no modem to buy as the system uses a network card .. so if you
got unix, linux or xp ... as long as ur network card is installed it works,
also is always on as there is no username / password to connect with ... u
are a device on their network:)

So i reckon that the bit more you pay per month and for install will break
even as you don't have to buy a modem ...

Register your interest here;

Intereseting to note that one of the parties is GIACOM who are behind
hull24 who KCL ripped off by increasing the cost of their exchange lines
from £4,000 to £14,000 wouldn't that be poetic justice if these guys got in
and gave them more than competition.

And yes ... i've registered our three corporate sites and my home addy for
it, they say line of sight is required .... hull's FLAT ... so i reckon that
should not be a problem:)

Seeya,

I'm waiting for a call from Lyndi tomorrow after lunch. I've always said
that I don't expect a decent internet service to be cheap, £90ish seems ok,
but forcing me to buy a router as part of the installation is so far off
this planet I can't beleive it. When I got my leased line at work they never
forced me to buy one of theirs so what's different about adsl? f**k all is
the difference.

I sat here when everyone got adsl and said no I'll do the right thing, not
abuse the system, and wait for biz adsl.

What a cupid stunt I was to have beleived it.

I'm gonna change from vyper to 'pucking fissed off' at this rate. I'll let
you know how I get on tomorrow.
