Japan provides food assistance

RSS
KATHMANDU, May 10: The Government of Japan has provided 82,000 quintals
of food in assistance this year.

It had provided 92,000 quintals of foodgrains in grant last year.

Although the Japanese government has made no changes in the amount of
assistance, the less quantity of food this year as compared to last
year was because of price hike of rice in the international market,
according to the Nepal Food Corporation (NFC).

The received food assistance has been provided to the people of Karnali
region who have been facing severe food scarcity.

The Nepal Food Corporation was expected to supply 65,950 metric tons of
food in 30 remote districts of the country in the fiscal year but has
supplied 55, 323 metric tons by mid-April.
