HUMLA (Simikot), May 22: Speakers participating at an interaction
programme on 'Our role for lasting peace in the current situation'
organized by Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre
Humla stressed that the socio-economic transformation is necessary in
order to sustain the political change.
Noting that the change on lifestyle and culture of people is imperative
for restoring lasting peace, senior journalist Bhairab Risal said we
should initiate this culture ourselves.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Pitambar Sharma of Tribhuwan University
highlighted the role and representation of all walks of life to be
ensured in constituent assembly, army to be democratized, army to be
mobilized in the development of remote area and the state to be
restructured.
The size of military force should be reduced, as the civil rights would
be at stake if it is expanded said Prof. Dr. Chaitanya Sharma, adding
the locals of Humla should formulate plan for Humla themselves.
Similarly, Chief District Officer Yagya Raj Bohora said all sides
should be honest to fulfill the aspirations for peace shown by Nepali
people.
Also speaking at the programme presided over by District Coordinator of
KIRDRC Govinda Bahadur Shahi were regional coordinator of KIRDRC,
Nepalgunj Dev Raj Ojha, CPN-ML's Man Bahadur Thapa, CPN-UML's kal
Bahadur Hamal, CPN (Maoists)'s Chhimi lama, Nepali Congress-D's Jeevan
Bahadur Shahia and DSP Shree Prasad Prasai.
