Are you a male office professional or do you know one? Then you will know that working in what is traditionally considered a female profession can be daunting.
Send this to all the male office professionals that you know.
This year, Mr Corrie Fourie, PA of the Year 2008 Finalist, will discuss how he has learnt to “win in a woman’s world”. Mr Fourie will deliver two papers at the Second Annual Coastal Secretaries Conference (CSC 2010), viz.:
Winning in a woman’s world: experiences of a male office professional
Taking a stand and being noticed in the workplace
Winning in a woman’s world: Experiences of a male Office Professional
§ Working as a male Executive PA often raises eyebrows in the “testosterone driven” world of the corporate industry.
§ As a male PA you also have to be comfortable, dealing with female matters and issues.
§ I often find prejudice still exist towards me amongst Female counterparts.
§ Working as a Male PA you somehow create historic moments being appointed with companies to whom the Male PA is still a new phenomenon.
§ The existence of Male PAs, although not a new addition to the global work force, has lately achieved a heightened level of attention
Taking a stand and being noticed in the workplace
§ We often have to look around us to find the smaller things in life as this is where we can be noticed.
§ To succeed in life you have to live for the now, and invest in tomorrow
§ Within each one of us at this very moment is the power to do things that we never dreamed possible.
§ Take your stand!! Begin now to embrace your uniqueness and your individuality.
§ It sometimes hurt so much, but you have to take your stand!
