The XXII Biennial Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Branch of the
International Council on Archives (ESARBICA) General Conference on
"Archives in the 21st Century and Beyond: Historical and technological
paradigm shift" will be hosted by the Kenya National Archives and
Documentation Service, Nairobi between 3rd - 7th June 2013.

Accommodation, travelling and subsistence are the responsibility of the
paper presenters.

Themes

The forthcoming ESARBICA Conference seeks to highlight the key
historical developments in archives and the role played by technology in
the management of archives and records in the 21st century. Themes that
may be addressed are wide and open, but an advanced academic level of
discourse is required. Inter alia the following broad themes will be
addressed at the conference:
* Reformatting Technologies in the Information World
* Towards Integrated Records and Archives management Programmes
* Role of Archives in Preserving Nations' Heritage
* Society's perception on the role of archives/archivists in
national
development
* Implications of legal framework on Records and Archives
Management
* Emerging technologies in Information and Knowledge Management

Submission Procedure

Submissions should include the speaker's name(s), affiliation, postal
address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers, a short
one-paragraph biographical note, the title of the paper, and an abstract
of 400 to 500 words. Each abstract will be double-blind reviewed. Papers
accepted will be published in the conference proceedings provided
authors present their work at the conference.
Some selected papers will be considered for publication in the ESARBICA
Journal and the Journal of the Society of South African Archivists.

Important Dates:

Abstracts submission: 21st January 2013

Notification of acceptance of abstracts: 11th February 2013

Submission of full paper: 1st April 2013
