We are a small Baptist church in Portland, Oregon and we are serving
the Karen refugees. Our pastor is Thai as well as his wife. My wife
is from Thailand and I am an American. This is the foundation of our
church. The Karen that we are reaching out to seem to have
difficulties with translators. Many of them do not speak nor
understand Burmese, yet they are contiually getting Burmese
translators for their appointments. We also have been experiencing a
lack of commitment with the Karen. To be honest, the youth are our
strong points. You can see our youth at youtube; search for
"coloredpencils art in portland". We are in need of some help. The
Karen seem to be frustrated with the fact that there is a strong
community of Burmese here. We are worried that the current economic
situation will keep them from getting jobs. We have a really good
orginazation here to help refugees(IRCO), but we need jobs here.
Please help in any way. We are connected with a retired missionary
named Jim Morris, but he lives many miles away. Also, transportation
is a major problem as well. I believe that my wife has sent other e-
mails to Karenkonnection, however we have not heard anything back.
Hope you get this and may God Bless this organization!!! Thank
you.................Jason Gordon.
