The Research Associate will be working under the direction of GSL’s Director Steven J. Hoffman and with GSL’s Associate Director Patrick Fafard and other GSL faculty members. The Research Associate will be responsible for managing research assistants, preparing grant applications, writing manuscripts, supporting some office administration and organizing team efforts across multiple studies. This position represents a challenging opportunity that is ideally suited for an academically inclined individual with a demonstrated interest in global health and social science research. CIHR-IPPH Special Projects Lead: The Special Projects Lead provides scientific expertise, strategic support and project management to Institute-led initiatives. The Special Projects Lead will take the initiative to support ‘special projects’ related to IPPH’s mandate and advance the Scientific Director’s priorities. This person will also be involved in organizing Institute strategic activities such as giving presentations at conferences and to inter-sectoral stakeholders, developing and organizing scientific workshops and meetings, and developing related background materials including briefing notes and reports. The position requires strong knowledge of the Canadian public health system and policy environment, familiarity with the key Canadian and global public health issues, as well as a good understanding of the principles, approaches, and related methods for population and public health research. CIHR-IPPH Research Coordinator: The Research Coordinator provides scientific expertise, research and technical support as well as some project management to Institute-led initiatives. CIHR-IPPH Communications Specialist: The purpose of this position is to provide communications leadership, strategic advice, and expert level writing support to the IPPH team by ensuring consistency with the strategic direction, mandate and vision of the Institution. In addition, the incumbent also provides a high level of responsiveness and sensitivity in managing communications relationships with various stakeholders, including the Minister of Health’s Office, government representatives, internal and external partners and media.
