A co-hosted event between SSQL and Kardinal Kink, during Transgender Awareness Week on campus, our very own co-president will talk about fetishisation of trans bodies.

A personal blurb:

When Lily and I sat down to create the constitution of this club, we tried to define kink such that it didn't include fetishes for transgender people, people of color, or other innate traits, e.g. "yellow fever" and exploitative trans woman porn. Fetishising a body that's considered "not normal" enforces the racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, or other oppressive social force that harms these individual's lives on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, we couldn't redefine kink as such. Instead, we decided to acknowledge that kinks can be transphobic, racist, or otherwise oppressive and foster a conversation about how personal attractions don't exist in a vacuum and concretely impact the people being fetishised.

While we want to encourage people to fight shame by talking about their sexuality and/or kink interests, we know the harm caused by fetishes that target innate characteristics of a person's body. We've decided to walk that line by offering events such as this one and not providing support in the club to fetishes we perceive as oppressive.

If you are new to this conversation and want to read more, see these sample links and google 'trans fetishisation,' and of course, attend the event this Thursday!

Of course, you should also attend the other events listed here. :-D

This is a public Kardinal Kink event. We also hold events exclusively for members, such as workshops, social events, and carpooling to other local Bay Area events. Most members are concerned about their anonymity, so we don't list these events publicly.
