MEDIA ADVISORY for October 10, 2025
Press Conference to announce “Grounding Solidarity: A Learning and Solidarity Mission to Communities Affected by Climate Injustice and Militarism”
🗓️ October 10, 2025 (Friday)
🕤 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
📍 2/F SIKAT Studio, #305 Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City
As the WorldRisk Report 2025 once again identifies the Philippines as the world’s most disaster-prone country, a broad international formation of grassroots movements, environmental defenders, and people’s organizations will launch “Grounding Solidarity: A Learning and Solidarity Mission to Communities Affected by Climate Injustice and Militarism.”
Set to take place from October 11 to 14 across the regions of Southern Tagalog, and Eastern and Western Visayas, the mission brings together delegates from the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas to visit frontline communities enduring the overlapping crises of environmental destruction - further worsened by corporate plunder, corruption, and militarization. Delegates will engage directly with farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, and disaster survivors resisting displacement by mining, dam, and so-called “green” development projects that threaten their lands and livelihoods.
The Grounding Solidarity Mission forms part of a larger event leading up to the Asia Pacific People’s Conference on Climate Imperialism and Militarism, to be held in Manila on October 16–17, where movements will gather to craft shared strategies for climate justice, sovereignty, and lasting peace. These efforts also build momentum toward COP30 Amazonia in Brazil, where global movements will push for genuine people-centered climate solutions rooted in justice and solidarity.
