On the 20th Year of the Enforced Disappearance of UP Students Karen Empeno and Sherlyn Cadapan

Families of the disappeared, fellow students, friends, human rights advocates, and supporters will gather on June 26, 2026 to commemorate the 20th year of the enforced disappearance of University of the Philippines students Karen Empeno and Sherlyn Cadapan, and to renew calls for truth, justice, and accountability.
Titled "Siyang Nawawala Ay Naghahanap ng Katarungan," the event will look back on the abduction and disappearance of Empeno and Cadapan in Hagonoy, Bulacan on June 26, 2006, and call for justice for all desaparecidos in the Philippines.
The forum on enforced disappearances will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Vinzons Hall lobby, UP Diliman. This will be followed by a symbolic action at the Sunken Garden (near the UP College of Law), featuring an art installation of thousands of clothes spelling the word "SURFACE" to amplify calls to surface the disappeared.
