KARAPATAN TO AFP, PNP: Where is Faye Tallow?
KARAPATAN condemned the arbitrary arrest by combined elements of the 16th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (IBPA) and the police of peasant organizer Faye Tallow, on September 6, 2025 in Labo, Camarines Norte.
Tallow, a former student leader from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, was arrested without warrant inside a house in Barangay Malibago, Labo town at around 6 p.m. She has reportedly been shunted from the Labo Municipal Police State to the Lopez Municipal Police Office and the Gumaca Municipal Police Station, with the police even claiming that she has been brought to Camp Crame. Paralegals from Karapatan-Southern Tagalog, however, have been unable to confirm any of this because police personnel from Labo, Gumaca and Lopez have been giving them the run-around. As a result, the paralegals have not been able to ascertain Faye’s condition and whether her rights as a political prisoner are being upheld.
Said Karapatan secretary general Cristina Palabay, “It has been more than 72 hours since Faye’s warrantless arrest and her actual whereabouts are still unknown. We call on the Commission on Human Rights to look into her abduction by self-confessed state agents. We demand that she be surfaced and be brought back safe and sound to her family.”
