CARMMA assails dismissal of forfeiture case on Marcoses' P50 B ill-gotten wealth
The Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses and Martial Law (CARMMA) assailed yet another dismissal at the Sandiganbayan of a forfeiture case against the Marcoses involving P50 billion in ill-gotten wealth.
Citing inordinate delay in the prosecution’s completion of its presentation of evidence, the Sandiganbayan Special Division ordered the dismissal on June 2, 2026, after the prosecution said it would no longer present additional evidence.
The dismissed case, which dates back to 1991, is the last pending ill-gotten wealth case against the Marcoses. “Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accomplished what he set out to do when he ran for president--to recoup his family’s ill-gotten wealth sequestered by the government and tied in litigation,” fumed CARMMA spokesperson Kris Lacaba.
Marcos Jr.'s reacquired ill-gotten wealth comes on top of all the kickbacks he and his clique have been raking in from being at the apex of the government’s massive corruption pyramid, added Lacaba.
“Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may think he and his clique have finally come full circle in terms of their ability to get their hands on all this lucre,” said Lacaba. “They forget that an enraged Filipino people can also come full circle in their ability to oust this kleptocratic clique from power.”
