NODJ-MD Updates | Human Rights Alert
Today, November 15, 2025, the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at Negros Occidental District Jail – Male Dormitory declare their steadfast resistance to the oppressive and abusive rule of Jail Warden JSUPT (Atty.) Crisyrel P. Awe, DSC. In protest, they are boycotting all jail-initiated activities, including the so-called basketball league, which is selective, manipulative, and serves solely to glorify the Warden's personal reports.
In retaliation, Warden Awe has threatened PDLs with padlocking for non-participation, invoking his alleged "prerogative." These acts constitute clear examples of conduct unbecoming of a public official, gross abuse of authority, and blatant violations of human rights.
Warden Awe must be held fully accountable for these tyrannical actions. A public official and lawyer, sworn to uphold the law, has instead chosen to act as a dictator, trampling democratic principles and the rights of those under his custody. His conduct is morally reprehensible and legally actionable under existing laws governing public officials and human rights protections.
We call on human rights advocates, legal authorities, and the public to witness this oppression and demand immediate accountability. Tyranny in uniform will not silence the oppressed.
PDL Rights are Human Rights!
