ACTION ALERT: Preliminary Investigation Hearing on Sedition Charges vs. September 21 Protesters

With these calls, a protest action will be held in front of the Department of Justice tomorrow, January 29, as the DOJ conducts its preliminary investigation hearing on the sedition charges filed against activists and individuals who joined the anti-corruption protests on September 21, 2025.

AKAB (Alyansa Laban sa Korupsyon at Brutalidad ng Pulis) - a network formed by anti-corruption protesters who were arrested and detained in Manila - asserts that these sedition charges are being used to silence legitimate calls for accountability and an end to corruption.

“Instead of holding corrupt officials accountable, the government continues to harass, intimidate, and criminalize activists and ordinary citizens,” AKAB said.
