On KBL’s nomination of BBM for a 2022 presidential bid

As the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan nominates Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as the party’s standard-bearer in the 2022 elections today during its national convention, the Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses and Martial Law (CARMMA) reiterates its strong opposition to the bid of the former dictator Marcos Sr.’s son for the top posts in the national elections.

Bongbong’s run is a mad attempt for the Marcoses to return and restore their power and rule on a country pillaged and violated during Marcos’s martial law, to further evade their accountability for their crimes, and to promote the historical lies that they have perpetuated. It is also a form of direct support for Duterte’s continuation of his murderous rule, with the Marcoses serving as among his closest allies throughout his administration ridden with countless allegations of extrajudicial killings and other human rights violations, corruption and anti-people governance, and subservience to foreign interests.

CARMMA is resolute in campaigning and frustrating all efforts for a repeat of a Marcos and a Duterte rule in Malacanang in the coming years. Together with the Filipino people, we will remain steadfast in saying #NeverAgain to dictators, plunderers and murderers in power. #NoDuterteMarcos2022
