📣Environmental defenders Jak Tiong and Eco Dangla decry continuous harassment before the Court of Appeals
📍Court of Appeals, Maria Orosa, Ermita, Manila
November 24 2025, Monday
🕒 10:00 AM
A symbolic protest will be held in front of the Court of Appeals to support a manifestation calling out the continued harassment of environmental defenders and abduction survivors, Eco Dangla and Jak Tiong.
The filing comes amid ongoing harassment of the victims’ families by state agents. It follows the Court’s September 23 ruling denying Dangla’s Writs of Amparo and Habeas Data despite acknowledging police neglect in investigating the case.
State security forces abducted Dangla and Tiong of the Pangasinan People’s Strike for the Environment on March 24, 2024 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. They were held incommunicado for three days and subjected to severe physical and mental torture. The two environmental defenders have been spearheading campaigns on various environmental issues in the province, including proposed waste-to-energy plants, modular nuclear plants, and black sand mining.
Protesters will make a symbolic removal of blindfolds to dramatize the State’s refusal to acknowledge human rights violations, and demand that justice be served for the victims like Dangla and Tiong and other victims of human rights violations.
The action is led by Karapatan Gitnang Luzon and the Environmental Defenders Congress.
