Dekada ng Sama-samang Pag-alala: Exhibit to Launch on 10th Year of the ‘War on Drugs’
We humbly invite the public, members of the media, and all advocates for justice to the opening of DEKADA NG SAMA-SAMANG PAG-ALALA EXHIBIT on August 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Parola, UP College of Fine Arts Gallery.
This activity is led by Dekada, a coalition of EJK-affected families, artists, journalists, academics, lawyers, church groups, and human rights defenders. This event is a collective gathering of EJK-affected families, community organizations, and artists coming together to share a space of reflection, hope, and empowerment.
The Dekada exhibit comes after the launch of Dekada ng Sama-samang Pag-alala, Pagkakaisa para sa Hustisya, through a solemn candle-lighting ceremony led by families, on July 1 at Bantayog ng mga Bayani. July 1 marked the 10th year since the Duterte administration assumed office, and carried out a nationwide anti-illegal drugs campaign through PNP Command Memorandum Circular No. 16-2016 or "Project Double Barrel.” The “war on drugs” turned out to be a war against the poor, and claimed thousands of lives.
The Dekada exhibit is a multi-site, multi-disciplinary series of exhibitions, film screenings, discussions, and public interventions. Through these events, we mark ten years of grief, mourning, and resistance, ten years after. More importantly, we want to trace the journey of the families from victims to survivors, and honor the perseverance and collective action that has carried this movement forward.
Your presence will send a powerful message of solidarity, especially to the families who remain at the very heart of this exhibition.
