INVITATION TO A MEDIA BRIEFING

Six Years of the ATA: Criminalizing Dissent,
Curtailing Rights and Freedoms

July 1, 2026 (Wednesday)
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Conference Room
National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP)
879 EDSA, Quezon City

Six years after the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 2020 was signed into law, what has been its impact on the exercise of fundamental rights and civil liberties? How many individuals have been charged under the law, and how many cases have been dismissed? How has the ATA been used against activists, journalists, human rights defenders, and ordinary citizens?

We invite members of the media to a briefing that will present updates, data, and testimonies on the implementation of the Anti-Terrorism Act and its implications for human rights and democratic freedoms.
