Brothers,
Could you please pass this on to anybody in your office who might be able to help?
I would also like to encourage you to grow your own moustache and join our Kappa Sigma Team! See below for more info. Thanks!

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Kappa Sigma Fraternity at UBC has recognized you as a valuable part of our community and would like to extend you an invitation to participate on our Movember team. As a local business that we support, we have an idea that we would like to pitch to you for the month of November. We have about 40 brothers participating in a campaign called “Movember”. We need all the help we can get in our attempt to educate the public on the most common cancer amongst Canadian men; prostate cancer.

Movember is a national campaign where men grow moustaches (Mos) for the month of November. It is also known as “no shave November” or “moustache November”. The idea is to encourage the public’s awareness for prostate cancer by attracting people to ask moustache growers why they are growing a “Mo”.

Some facts about prostate cancer:
  • Prostate cancer will affect 1 in 6 men.
  • 24,600 men this year will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, not including cases that go undiagnosed due to men's unwillingness to go for annual check-ups

What Kappa Sigma is doing to help the cause:

  • Encourage not only brothers but fellow UBC students to grow moustaches
  • We will be selling blue ribbons (similar to the pink breast cancer ribbon) on campus to raise money and awareness.
  • We will have a moustache competition near the end of the month where best/worst Mos will win prizes.
  • We will be pledging family and friends to reach our goal of $5000 raised.
  • We are wearing t-shirts all month that promote prostate cancer awareness

We are contacting you to see if you would be interested in making a donation to our team in the form of gift certificate or prizes. We also have advertising opportunities on our Movember t-shirts. We would like to invite you, your associates and your friends to join our Mo-team and we challenge you to grow a moustache of your own! We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
James Oborne
President, Kappa Sigma
