COPASAH East and Southern Africa Region invites Call for Applicants for Targeted Technical Interventions.
Deadline for application: 22nd November, 2013!
This call invites applications from COPASAH members in East and Southern Africa region to apply and benefit from targeted technical interventions. This is aimed at providing organizations working in community monitoring for improved health outcome an opportunity to work closely with a specific or designated resource person (advanced practitioner) to improve their own practice or to solve a specified problem. The capacity building will bridge defined technical gaps affecting their work to help improve practice.
The Call
Uganda National Health Users’/Consumers’ Organisation (UNHCO) and Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH) through support from Accountability and Monitoring in Health Initiative (AMHI) of the Open Society Foundations to implement a project; ‘‘Consolidating the Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH) as a knowledge-generation and dissemination community.’’ The project aims to consolidate COPASAH as a knowledge-generation and sharing community through the implementation of innovative capacity building strategies for its members and increasing the visibility of COPASAH at regional and global levels.
The COPASAH steering committee identified areas of strengthening with regard to community based monitoring among member organisations and integrated in the above ongoing project. A key strategy identified to build capacity of members is targeted technical assistance by a resource person who is an advanced practitioner in social accountability. Targeted technical assistance is thus targeting civil society organisations and NGOs that are using community monitoring for improved health outcomes in the East and Southern African region.
Through this strategy successful organisations will have opportunity to work closely with designated resource person/advanced practitioner to improve their practice though supporting them solve specified problems, fill capacity gaps and to improve overall practice of community monitoring.
However, it’s important to note that resources are limited to facilitate all COPASAH members in region to benefit from targeted technical assistance. We therefore invite interested organisations to submit an application to express their interest to participate. Applications will be evaluated by the COPASAH secretariat in the region.
Information requested from applications: Interested applicants should submit:
1. Not more than two page application that outlines:
Increased community participation in monitoring health services

Increased community participation in monitoring health services
- Improved engagement between duty bearers and rights holders
- What community monitoring tools you plan to use in the intervention
- Where the work is being done
- What tangible outcomes the project is aiming at
- What specific challenges in your work do you need targeted technical assistance to resolve
- How your organisation will benefit from targeted technical assistance
