We are excited to announce that the preparations for September 28 - The Global Day of Action for Safe and Legal Abortion are in full swing. Members from twenty countries have committed to commemorate the Day of Action and are currently actively contributing to the development of the campaign materials.
Would you also like to be part of this historical event?
We invite all member to contribute to the development of the campaign materials for the Day of Action. We are now in the process of developing campaign materials that will appeal to members in different countries and that can be easily adopted to different languages and contexts. One of the campaign materials that we envision is a collection of real life stories of women/girls who have been denied/restricted access to abortion services. We are certain that through your work experience with women in your community you must have encountered many of this kind. If you have any, please share one story of your choice that you think illustrates powerfully the reality women in need of abortion services have to face in your community/country and send it to us.
When you think about the life stories, you might consider to include the following details:
1. What exactly happen to the woman/girl seeking abortion services? - Facts of the story, sequence of events.
2. How did your organisation or broader SRHR movement in your country get involved with the case?
3. As a women's rights defender did you ever get threatened or ran any risk because of your involvement in defending access to abortion?
4. Please share with us any accompanying visual materials related to the case if available.
A document of a maximum of 2 pages will be just great. We will consult you further on the use of the case. Please let us know any other important information that needs to be considered, such as privacy issues etc. It goes without saying that your organisation will be credited as the contributor to the campaign material.
If you an, please
send us your case story before July 27, 2012.
Thank you very much for your participation!
In Solidarity,
WGNRR Team
