KiwiBrowser is an Android browser that allows you to surf the internet at extra high speed without consuming too much memory on your device. Thanks to its lightweight interface and the fact that it was developed using Chromium and WebKit, it'll only take a few seconds to load the content that interests you the most.

One of the outstanding aspects of Kiwi Browser is that it lets you add a large number of extensions that other internet browsers for smartphones simply do not support. For example, you'll get to install a number of different ad blockers and get the possibility to install grid view on Google Meet.

Kiwi Browser also features an acclaimed night mode that makes your interface display in darker shades close to black. And it comes with an added layer of protection against a number of different threats. You can also manage and select the sites you want displayed on your home screen.

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

I saw ur post about kiwi browser for interactive fics. Iv been trying to use it, but i cant get it to work. If its not too much trouble, could you post a step by step thing? It would really help me out. Im also on a galaxy s10 plus, idk if that plays into it or not. Thank u! :)

It isn't easy for an indie dev to maintain a Chromium fork that diverges in lots of ways from the main codebase, which is why updates to Kiwi Browser have been slow and the underlying Chromium version hasn't been in sync with Google's releases. It's become even harder to keep up with the Chromium release cycle since Google recently moved from a 6 week schedule to a 4 week one. However, that could change soon as future updates to Kiwi Browser will automatically include the latest Chromium version as well.

This is thanks to work the developer has done on a project called "Kiwi Next," which is "Kiwi Browser auto-rebased with latest Chromium." The developer tells us he's been working on scripting and automation tools to follow the new Chromium release cycle more efficiently. This should hopefully keep Kiwi in sync with the latest Chromium release, so users won't have to miss out on critical bug fixes or new browser features. Auto-rebasing can result in unforeseen errors or breakages thanks to code conflicts from the merger, but it seems the developers have figured out how to quickly integrate their existing code on top of the latest Chromium release.

Apart from the Kiwi Next project, the developer has also been working on rolling out a major new update to the Kiwi Browser app. The latest update is based on Chromium version 93.0.4577, so compatibility with websites has been significantly improved as has performance thanks to all the improvements Google made over the last few months. The update also brings an enhanced content blocker, new DevTools, corrections to a slew of issues with malfunctioning clicks, fixes for a slew of white pages, a new night mode (which uses Android's dark theme system and Chrome's "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents"), and a new notification management system.

Because the update is based on the latest Chromium version, though, the legacy vertical tab switcher has been completely removed from the codebase. The Kiwi dev added their own vertical tab switcher option in Settings for those who totally hate the new tab system, but do note that it's not a 1:1 replacement.

You can check out the latest update to Kiwi Browser on the Google Play Store right now. The Play Store version is only 49MB in size as the developer tells us he's switched to the new delivery mechanism, but if you grab the update from another source, it'll be over 150MB in size.

Most of us are already familiar with kiwi browser on Android (chromium based), It have many features like support for extensions from chrome webstore and support for external download managers like idm. Now its developer ( A senior and well reputable developer on XDA : arnaud42 ) have made all the project completely open source on github, which opens a way for other browsers to add those functionality in other browsers.

@Deleted As you already know there are many users which crave for extension support on android platform. Also since kiwi is open source, other browsers would add the functionality (arnaud42 confirmed that he talked with some developers of other browsers on the same) and I feel edge shouldn't be left behind. So, Can you please check the related thread and share what you think about this?

The verdict on this one is easy. Since Kiwi is based on Chromium, it is easy to make the switch. Transitioning and customizing the browser to your requirements is a breeze. Unlike the stark differences that I notice between Safari and Chrome, it was easy to forget that I was working with the Kiwi Browser. The only thing you need to get used to is the three dots on the right and expanded menu there. Translated into over 60 languages, the choice to customize file download to your folders and easy import and export of bookmarks buttons, add to the positive profile of this browser.

Although it isn't a huge deal I thought I may as well report it. On Kiwi Browser v120.0.6099.20 (a Chromium based browser) various elements in the search page get "over shifted' when bottom navigation is focused and the address bar is focused. These elements are:

Userscript to enable background playback in Kiwi Browser for Android. Might work on other Chromium browsers (not tested!).

This script is not written by me. I got it from a user in the Kiwi Browser Telegram group chat. You can find the original post here.

Google Chrome itself can play any (including YouTube) videos in the background out of the box (just after ticking Desktop checkbox). Brave Browser has specific code and setting for background play on YouTube. [...] In theory Brave Browser should be 100% banned from the store now. If we take the definition more broadly (apps that can play YouTube in the background), Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera could be removed too.

Kiwi Browser's developer has told us the issue has been resolved. The app has been restored to the Play Store, but background play for YouTube has unfortunately been disabled to meet Google's requirements. At least fans of extensions in mobile browsers can get back to enjoying them.

The home screen hosts some popular apps and websites like Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Wikipedia, Flipkart, etc. This is based on your browsing history on Chrome. In case you have never browsed on Chrome, some popular pages are randomly displayed.

The right drop-down menu provides the options to go incognito, open desktop site, turn on night mode, translate, clear data, and look up downloads. It also displays the dynamic number of ads and trackers blocked by the browser.

The night mode is a thing of beauty. When you open a webpage on night mode, that page displays the same colour schemes of black and grey. So, Google Search, for instance, sports a different look on Kiwi Night Mode.
