Isthere an upgrade and or migration path for this? I couldn't find anything on support site yet. On the download page there an "upgrade.iso" and a OVA that I can deploy. Not sure if the .iso is to do the upgrade or not. I'm also using SnapCenter 4.6 so I want to make sure I capture configs before moving to ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere 9.10. I'm upgrading vCenter to 7.0 and ESXi to 7.0u2 or u3 soon and ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere 9.10 supports all of these. I'm going to deploy SRM 8.5 I want to take advantage of SRA as well. Any help would be really helpful.

As an aside, NetApp's VAAI 2.0 still doesn't show up as supported for ESXi 7.0U3 on the Interoperability Matrix Tool. However, I've been advised by NetApp Support that it does work and it is safe to use it. They haven't added ESXi 7.0U3 to the IMT for VAAI 2.0 because cross-volume cloning takes more time with VAAI as compared to non-VAAI. I've been running VAAI with 7.0U3 in test for months and recently in prod as well as I don't need cross-volume cloning so much.

Upgrading your VMware Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations) environment is essential to take advantage of the latest features, performance improvements, and security enhancements. In the following post, I showed you how to deploy and configure vRealize Operation 8.10.

In this release, version 8.12, vRealize Operations has undergone a rebranding and is now known as VMware Aria Operations. This rebranding introduces VMware Aria Operations as an enhanced version of its predecessor, offering the same dependable capabilities that vRealize Operations provided while also introducing a range of advanced features and enhanced functionality.

In this post, I will guide you through the process of upgrading VMware vRealize Operations 8.10 to Aria Operation 8.12, ensuring a smooth and successful upgrade. Before beginning the upgrade process, it is crucial to verify the upgrade path compatibility to ensure that you can update from the current version to the latest version of Aria Operations, which is 8.12.1 as of the time of writing this blog. I have vRealize Operation 8.10 in my lab environment, and as you can see a direct upgrade to the latest version of Aria Operations, 8.12.1, is possible.

Before you upgrade to the desired version, you need to check the compatibility of solutions, metrics, dashboards, views, reports, and so on to make sure they are compatible with the new version, because, with every Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations) release, many metrics are either discontinued or deactivated. These metrics might be used, along with the dashboards, views, and reports. Therefore, before upgrading, run the Aria Operations Pre-upgrade Readiness Assessment Tool which helps you understand the precise impact on your environment through a detailed report.

1- Download Pre-Upgrade Readiness Assessment Tool for the version of VMware Aria Operations you plan to upgrade to from this link. Since my current vRops environment is running on version 8.10, I have selected the one that I highlighted with the red box.

Now that we have recognized the significant impact of the upgrade through this report, we have successfully identified the issues and addressed all concerns. Consequently, we are fully prepared to move forward with the upgrade.

4- Log in to Aria operations, and the first thing you notice is the name change that has occurred to this console. After checking the version and the connection with vCenter and vSA, everything seems fine, except there is a warning with vRealize Log Insight in the solutions, which is normal I have to modify VMware Aria Operations for Logs cloud account in VMware Aria Operations and add the Credentials.

I'm in the process of planning a OneView appliance upgrade path from 4.10 to 6.x. This is currently managing a VMware 6.5 environment running on a C7000 chassis and also some additional DL servers. I'm looking to as much of this as an 'online' operation and trying to find a interoperability matrix between OneView versions, C7000 frimware versions, BL server SPP and DL server SPP etc so I can map out the upgrade steps for each element to maintain supportability during the upgrade activity.

There is a good support matrix for OneView and Synergy which clearly shows what versions of OneView support which Synergy SPPs and which versions of VMware - should I be using this for C7000 environments also? or is there a separate matrix for C7000 environments?

"There is a good support matrix for OneView and Synergy which clearly shows what versions of OneView support which Synergy SPPs and which versions of VMware - should I be using this for C7000 environments also? [NO!] or is there a separate matrix for C7000 environments?"

For c7000 and rack servers, the same strict support matrix is not required. Those platforms are only constrained by the minimum versions in the OneView support matrix for each version of OneView.. ..and they do not change often. Some people are surprised at how broad that support is, but you can trust the published support matrix documentation.

I recommend mapping out your OneView version update choices and use the support center to download each version's support matrix and verify when you will be required to update an iLO, an OA, or a VCM, for example.

Is there any rule of thumb for upgrade durations? I've done quite a few Synergy Composer upgrades with OneView but is that directly comparable with OneView appliances? Can I perhaps assume that, as a OneView for Synergy upgrade needs to complete both the active and standby composers it takes twice the time of a non-synergy OneView appliance?

I've found the published update timinmgs in the OneView installation guides so I'm happy I can now create a rough schedule for the upgrades. Essentailly it's saying that an upgrade from 4.10..x from 4.2.x is about 1Hr, from 4.2 to 5.2 is about 1.5Hrs and from 5.2 to 5.4 about 1Hr again - that's all good and I'll allow myself 6Hrs for the whole lot. (I'll take backups and VM snapshots after each upgrade of course)

I know you said there is still a little 'tidying' to do with the support matrix so just wanted to check the above is a supported path. Initially I thought I may need to also include an additional step from 4.20.01 -> 4.20.02 but now I think I can go straight from 4.20.01 -> 5.20.01. Please will you confirm this is correct

VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (formerly vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager) helps organizations speed up initial deployments, minimize admin tasks of ongoing product management, and ensure best practices at the same time. Whether you choose to use an individual product or different suite editions, always start with vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to maximize the benefit of the vRealize product portfolio by reducing the time and effort invested.

When upgrading to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle, it is important to understand changes in component behavior for version 8.10 that can affect the upgrade process. Understanding changes from previous versions of VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle can help in your upgrade planning. For a complete list of new features in VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.10, see the Release Notes for version 8.10 releases.

The upgrade procedure for a VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle environment can be rather complex and may require careful planning. Determining the steps of the upgrade procedure depends on several factors, mainly

Verify that no critical tasks are currently in progress in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager. The upgrade process stops and starts vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager services and reboots the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager virtual appliance, which might corrupt tasks that are in progress.

If you are upgrading VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle through a repository URL or CD-ROM, ensure that you download the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager upgrade binary from My VMware portal in advance. The file name must be -VMware-vLCM-Appliance-8.X.X.XX-XXXXXXXX-updaterepo.iso.

Review the current version and verify the compatibility and upgrade path, As I am running with VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.7., it is compatible with other platform products and direct upgrade path is available to 8.10.

@mars_seven I agree that the link provided above is a must read for you, especially if you have Prism central in your environmnet. Make sure you read it before you do anything so it gives you some idea as what is involved in the process.

In the above I assumed you are not having Prism Central, if you do, you need to upgrade that to a version compatible with your target AOS first. Check the upgrade path for PC in the above link I provided.

@mars_seven Sorry you never had a response to your query when you needed it. We are pretty new with the next community ourselves and trying to provide more input so folks like yourself get faster response to their queries hopefully. Your posting question in here may not have helped you but hopefully somebody else can pick a thing or two from it. Feel free to get back to us if you have questions, we do our best to respond or at least refer you to support if things are more detailed than can be answered by postings.

I feel that the 10.2.X version needs to mature, it is still in its 10.2.3h2 version, that is, very few maintenance versions, vs 10.1.X ( 10.1.8-h2 ). I consider that a version of PAN-OS already has a certain maturity, although of course all of them may be prone to certain failures, bugs, etc., but I think that it is just after the maintenance version X.X.7 or X.X.8, it is taking The PAN-OS version matures and stability, at least based on my experience and other people who have told me. Well this is not at all written, there is no exact and official manual that confirms this, but based on the different experiences of colleagues, friends, forums, communities, clients, etc.

I was about to post a similar question (this is my first time and post here, be gentle :). I have been handed the task to upgrade 2 sets of PA-820 firewalls which are both in Active-Passive configuration.
