Thanks for the invite. When I followed the link to join in it took me
to a general page about the group that did not have many options.
Since I am a member of several Google groups already and was told in
the invite email I would be a "manager", I knew there had to be a
simple way to activate some of the capabilities to post etc. I looked
in upper right corner of screen - there was a blue "sign in" tab/
button. Bingo! Here I am. Greetings from Spokane.

Did anybody have a similar experience?

Ron-- I am wrestling with this one, for some reason it isn't embedding as easily as the one for the grants management website and I am still in the process of setting it up on the google site----sometimes Chrome won't let me cut and paste, so I switched to Firefox to paste in the gadget, it told me there were "unsafe" materials in the code that would be removed, now I'm wrestling with it to try to get into the "properties" function to add the group name-- these bouts of contrary behavior come up fairly regularly when I am working on google sites, I don't think its a Mac thing, at least I hope not.

Ron-- on this group I made viewing public but made it necessary to
request to join the group. Only managers can post. We can modify that
as we go depending on how well it works for us. That may be why there
was an extra step to access it initially (?)

Wondering how to keep Google/Mark in the mix on all this. FYI - have also just started experimenting with getting too discussion from mobile/I phone - had a couple interesting experiences.

Should I invite him (you should be able to as a manager if you want). It would be wonderful if we could access it from a cell phone, it would be nice to be able to get advice from the group while we are in the field mapping.

Okay-- I resorted to a trick I often use when google acts up...I copied the html for the gadget out of the citizen mapper website (using Chrome, which is now cooperating) and pasted it into our river inventory google site, then changed the preference. And it works! Sometimes you have to go in through the back door. But we now have the discussion group embedded in the google site.

Nice to see "the Citizen Mapper" could help.

Got to take Shaelyn to school.
