Friends --

While Missouri officials passed a resolution against RCV last year, they've been friendly with us about letting us do more to make our case.

Specifically:

Larry Bradley and I were offered the opportunity to get a one-day registration at the Urban Boards of Election conference in Lake of the Ozarks this last June. We both felt it was highly productive; we had many positive conversations, or conversations that became positive once questions were cleared up. (Say, that you don't have to rank all choices, only the ones you like -- if you can rank 5 but only like 2 of 5 candidates, then only rank 2).

Better yet, we've been invited to have 30 minutes to present the case at a training for election officials to be held this September!

While support of election officials may not be crucial to achieving our goal of Ranked-Choice Voting, their lack of opposition probably is. Legislators are less likely to take RCV seriously if election officials are opposed to it. Meanwhile, they can educate us about practical aspects of it that we certainly need to know.

Friendly relations there can do a lot, and we have a good start
