A Democratic route. Think Harlem Globetrotters against the Washington Generals.
Mayor of NYC- Democrat 50/41
Gov of New Jersey- Democrat 56/43
Gov of Virginia- Dem 57/43
Pennsylvania Supreme Court- Dem retain office
Kansas- no gerrymandering

I almost want to read what Trump has to say.
Of course, three minutes after the Penn results were announced, Republicans mobilized and army of lawyers to contest the result. What more could we expect? Reps lose, lawyers come  out of the woodwork like the cockroaches they are.

"The  times they are a'changin'.
Can you say "buyers remorse?"

Oh, and  Maine rejected a Republican effort to make absentee voting more difficult

And California passed Prop 50, allowing them to realign their districts.
So, someone needs to tell Trump about Pooff. It gets out the odor of skunk.
I'll bask for a minute in a bit of schadenfreude.
And I'll accept the 15 yard personal foul for piling on.

Oh, and Virginia Dems won the Lt. Gov race and AG race.
And all by LARGE margins.
Guess we'll learn tomorrow how many illegals voted and how many voting machines were rigged. That's the only explanation in MAGA world.
And we'll learn how many lawsuits Pam Bondi will be asked to file after she gets her lips off Trump's..............body.

Trump has spoken.
The Reps lost because, "Trump was not on the ballot (all caps on his site)". "And because of the shutdown". I'll agree with that. Voters blame him and his party for the shutdown, by a large margin. And they blame him for prices going UP.
My wife can provide  him with a good recipe for crow. Needs long  period of marination, else it's tough to swallow.

Enjoy your victory lap.

We'll see.....takes a lot more than a non-election year mid term to restore much faith in this rabble of dipshittery.

Dystopian G speaks again.
"Tall oaks from little acorns grow"
Gotta start somewhere. And this is a good start.
We're actually looking at the tip of the iceberg. One talking head mentioned Pittsburgh. There were like 475 local races. Big deal, right? The Republicans won ELEVEN. Now, yes Pittsburgh is heavily Democratic; but that's crazy.
And Detroit elected it's first Black/female mayor. Maybe not a huge surprise.
Even Mississippi had a Democratic victory. They won enough state senate seats to end the Republican super-majority.
And remember Kansas; which did NOT give in to the Republican gerrymander fiasco.
There are local events that we probably won't learn about right away. Etc.
Consider this a kind of awakening. Democrats now know that their party is NOT moribund. A little wind in their sails is a good thing.

Democrats have never been a cohesively run political party, at least in my lifetime.

Their greatest chance for victories seems to be when the other guys screw up.

  • “I’m not a member of any organized political party…. I’m a Democrat.”
  • “Democrats never agree on anything, that’s why they’re Democrats. If they agreed with each other, they’d be Republicans.”
This from Will Rogers, many decades ago.
FYI, I was reading his Wiki article. He was part Cherokee, born on the Rez in what became part of Oklahoma.
Very interesting bio.
One tidbit is that when performing (on radio?) he used the N word in 1934. It was apparently unacceptable even that long ago. In issuing an apology, he directed in at "darkies". Oops. He then issued a "apology" by explaining that his words didn't convey what was in his heart. Today his career would have ground to an immediate halt.
I'd guess that he was not racist and today would be considered "Woke".

A few people who almost certainly aren't racist have had their careers ended by one silly mistake.  Howard Cosell is the obvious one that comes to mind.
