So plants of all varieties sequester carbon, LOTS of carbon. Problem is that when they die the carbon gets released.
But if the plant material is buried, carbon release is slowed by years,, even decades or centuries. Logs buried in clay have survived for thousands of years.
This technique is being done on a small scale. It seems to work. But it can scaled up with little infrastructure, not a lot of cost, and not much in the way of downside.
So instead of burning or dumping organic waste, bury it. Let's see what happens.
