So much to unpack here.
I'm a Democrat; and I think the whole thing's great. Don't know what the Admin's role is in all this, don't care
Blind pig(s) find truffle. If the admin played a role, kudos
And more than a few foreigners were denied entry into the US. And some teams were intensely scrutinized. Trump's personal style attached to the event.
And there's the whole "what-about-ism" thing. How far back do you want to go. When OBAMA and his admin killed bin Ladan, prominent Republicans couldn't utter Barak's name. Sarah Palin was notorious in leading this parade. And I'd dare say that ending bin Laden was a WEE bit more important than the World Cup. Crickets from the Reps.
And more recently Biden's admin in leading the US out of the Covid morass. The US outpaced every other country in the world in its recovery. And more crickets.
Brian, if you're gonna lecture us about the goose, then talk about the gander too.
This is the current state of politics. It sucks. Moving away from this will be very difficult and tedious. I'm thinking of an analogy, like changing things between Israel and its adversaries. But I know how analogies tend to lead BK astray. So I'll just say that changing the political landscape will be difficult. But it's worth a lot of effort.
I'll start; The US looks good as host for the World Cup. There.
