Kansas school cell phone ban

I generally like Governor Kelly...she mostly governs from the middle....realizing she's a moderate liberal in a conservative state, she governs as such. 

But she screwed up today signing the school cell phone ban. The concept is one everyone agrees with....keep kids off their phones during school lessons.....but schools already do this. And they do it effectively. I know, i have two there right now. 

This law requires schools to spend extra money and resources to monitor and store these phones, a completely unnecessary requirement. All schools in JoCo were against this legislation because of this burden. These schools are already massively underfunded. Now this. 

This is classic government overreach for a perceived problem that is not really a problem. 

Bad legislation.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to install a cell phone blocker they could turn on and off if it was even a real problem for a school?

I've always thought that the cell phone blocker idea was really good. Cheap, easy, effective. 

But if the law is so much overreach, remember the color of the party that enacted the legislation. I believe that it is red. And since the "reds" have a bulletproof majority, Guv's veto could have been easily overridden. Maybe blaming the wrong folks here. Been done before.
