Could have posted this in our thread on 14A;; but it deserves a separate post.
There were like a million Black men in service in WWII. NONE of them received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Now we can speculate that Blacks were just shiftless, lazy and not very brave. But we KNOW better than that. Heck, even BK pointed out their adrenaline fueled rage under certain circumstances.
In any case, 7 Blacks were identified as worthy recipients of the MOH. And finally got them.....................in 1997. So it took 50 years to rectify what is obviously racism. And since it's military, I'd call it institutional to nth degree. Only one of the 7 was alive to receive the medal.
So when some snowflake liberal talks about institutionalized racism, it's clear that it's NOT a relic of the distant past.
Add this to the rest of Black history and one might (might) come to understand how Blacks on the whole carry some suspicion regarding the gov't.

I could do the wonk reference to the Tuskegee syphilis experiments. The usual understanding is that this took place quite a long time ago. And yes, it started in 1932, a LONG time ago. But it ended in 1972, the year I started med school. So not so much a relic of a dark past.
