Trump announces plans for new battleship class, with HIS name on it (of course)

I thought that battleships were considered passe. Of  course these news ones are equipped differently. Some have already said that smaller more mobile ships are the way to go. And the current destroyer class ship costs about 1/4 as much

So is this a good step forward?

Or just another vanity project to get Trump's name on another "building"? 

And what about his saying that he wants to help design it? Trump being Trump maybe? 

If so, he's really got a screw loose. 

Fortunately the lead time on such a project takes it out of his time in office. So the next POTUS can scrap it if military brains say it's a poor idea. Or they can rename the project. 

Call it a John Paul Jones class of ships. 

But Trump might be a good name. Bloated, moves slowly, doesn't do anything useful. Note too that he points out the job creation. At least he's willing to confirm that the MIC is alive and well. 

Maybe I can Rip Van Winkle until 2028. Then someone can start taking Trump's name off all the places he put it up.
