I read the "scorecard". Of course I disagree with a lot of the opinions expressed
The WHO, as a concept, has done great things. They helped rid the world of smallpox, not a bad thing.
Less well known is that the WHO also helped clarify the connection between strep infections and rheumatic fever.
And their work does a LOT to help control world wide diseases.
As a Libertarian, you'll understand the concept of open borders. Well, guess what. Pathogens REALLY don't recognize borders. So any successful attempts to control world-wide disease requires and international cooperative effort. And the WHO does that. Do they do a good job? They have many many times. Do they do perfect work? No. They helped with Covid; but they didn't do exactly what Trump envisioned. So under the bus they went.
I'd re-establish our relationship with WHO.
Tariffs, a no-brainer. All agree, except for POTUS
Education, I see you point. But I worry that state control will really Balkanize things. Some states will get even more stupid. Think the South, Missouri at the top of the list. But I get that the Liber concept is freedom, including freedom to fail.
Justice. So who on Jan 6 deserved to be pardoned? I assume that you didn't follow specific cases. Not everyone at the Capitol was violent and not everyone got prosecuted. Many of those pardoned were clearly violent. They forcibly entered the Capitol and did property damage. They also interrupted the function of the US Congress.
Would you have pardoned ALL of them? Which ones? I'll have to assume that the best way to decide who gets what is to put them in front of a jury. Done.
Trump undid the rule of law. No bueno.
As for all that extrajudicial shit, easy to agree.
Economy. I like the idea of a more balanced budget. Cutting taxes without cutting spending just kicks the can down the road. But it's the easiest political path. Doing real work would require a lot of Congress members to get a lot more brave. Our military could still be lethal and a deterrent at half the size, despite BK's explanation that we need 20 aircraft carriers and the flotillas to go with.
International. Even as a big supporter of Israel, I think it behooves us to put forth some amount of tough love. Yes, Hamas is an eternal threat. But i don't think that eternal war is the answer. Prior POTUS have been able to drag reps of both sides to Camp David and make a bit of progress. But one side always seems to scotch the progress. Hint: I don't think it's Israel. That said, taking over the West Bank was a bad idea. The notion that it was an ancient part of the Hebrew kingdom, the abode of two of the twelve tribes, is thin gruel. From a military standpoint it makes plenty of sense. Check the map.
Ukraine? I dunno. This is an avatar for what would/will happen if we stop being the world's police. Should we tolerate Putin's desire to resurrect the USSR? China's takeover of Taiwan? Tough calls methinks. Liber thinking isn't perfect here; but not clearly worse than the alternatives. A source of endless debate.
