Is China really an "enemy" of the US? Not like ISIS or Al Queda, who actually vow "death to America". 

The crime exists because the US, NATO and others have signed an agreement to not train Chinese military. So yes, a crime. 

But not treason or traitorous. 

Heck, we trained Al Queda right here in good ol' "Murica. 

We train Saudis and others too. 

Another American export- military expertise. 

I found the case against the other pilot more interesting. He's an Australian citizen; but we want him back. But  his actions aren't a crime in Australia. 

Anyway, the guy's a douche. And we passed a law. So crime it is. But not treason; China isn't a "enemy" in that sense.
