Tetanus cases on the rise. Vaccination rates dropping

File this under I don't give a shit. Tetanus is very rare. It's not contagious. The gov't really doesn't have a dog in this hunt, other than to dispense advice. Sort of like handling tobacco. 

This is strictly an IQ test. If you want to risk one of the most painful experiences because you want to exert your personal freedom to be an idiot, so be it. 

Gov't; dispense the advice and stand back. 

In the ER, we take the opportunity to update tetanus status any time someone presents with a booboo. Essentially a public service gesture. 

Currently tetanus is contained in the DPT shots, which are required for school age children. But it's a tagalong  with the pertussis vax; which should be mandatory for those going to public school. If RFK wants to eliminate it, fine by me. Stupid is as stupid does.
