I have stumbled upon a new addiction. I signed onto Instagram. As you watch various pages, related ones show  up more and more. Duh. Remember I'm 77 years old. This is new to me.
Anyway, I started listening to some music snippets. Some piano riffs were so extraordinary that I thought they might be AI or some other concocted thing. But then I saw real stuff that I knew was legit. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Aretha singing the Obama, Clapton. So now I can scroll through all kinds of music. Piano, blues, rock. Saw Lightnin' Hopkins doing solo; which I happened to see live in about 1973. BB KIng, who I've seen live in '76. Tons of SR Vaughn. It's a new addiction. Came across some Jeff Beck.
And on and on.
A great find.
I also get vids of weight training, politics and a few cooking feeds. But the music is what I just spent 3 hours on. Better than stupid solitaire games.
FYI.

Morning Ken,

As pretentious audiophile, I am very pleased the hear you have (re)discovered the joy of music (re)discovery. What a wonderful thing.

On the other hand, Instagram? Really? You're a rich doctor. Spend $10 or $20 grand and buy yourself a well-resolving stereo system and subscribe to a lossless music service (like Tidal or Qobuz) -- and stop listening to highly compressed slop on social media. This will change your life in how you enjoy your favorite artists, even at 77. Surely you've lost some highs as we all have, but you're still fully capable of hearing the wonderful rich detail and sound staging in quality recordings that resides from 40 Hz to 8k or 9k Hz -- but only with the right music source played on a quality, music-dedicated stereo. You are welcome to stop by anytime and listen to my humble system if you need some inspiration...

Thanks, Dave. The Instagram was an accidental discovery that I tripped over while looking at even stupider shit. But the snippets of familiar music were inspiring. I've gotten out of a few enjoyable habits over the last couple of years. Don't golf any more. Hurts my neck. Don't play bridge at a club- just too lazy to get started. Etc. Don't listen to music much.
So the Instagram is at least a toe in the shallow end of the pool.

I enjoy Pandora. It lets me create my own stations and listen to music I know I like while at the same time playing other music similar to what I like  that I may not have heard before or forgotten about.

Be nice, even when you don't want to!
