What Mormons would have to change to be "Christian"

Pastor Doug Wilson is the noxious idiot that has Hegseth's ear. He also held a prayer service as a recent meeting the Hegseth led. 

So he's exerting a lot of influence. And he's a wacko. 

This article goes along with the one about telling women to be quiet. 

So now he thinks that Mormons are insufficiently "Christian". I'll assume that Jews are insufficient as well, along with Muslims, Buddhists etc, etc. And he thinks that those found "insufficient' should not be allowed to hold office, etc. 

Nothing to worry about here, right? 

Pastor Doug isn't the only wacko out there. And they are making inroads into the Republican mainstream. Actually, wacko notions have been around for awhile. Arkansas Governor and erstwhile POTUS candidate Michael Huckabee actually wanted Israel to take over all of its Biblical territory so that war would break out and usher in "end times". 

We need people to expose this craziness and call it what it is. And we need politicians to distance themselves from this crap and adhere to the USC's notions about religion's role in gov't.

Sorry to nitpick but.....I'm going to have to agree that Jews, Muslims, Buddhist and other religions that do NOT view Jesus Christ as the son of god....are probably not sufficiently Christian, pretty much by definition.

I know i'm a terrible Islamist because I always forget my daily prayers and don't quite buy the whole Allah thing.

On the other hand, i'd make a decent jew......other than that whole Old Testament God stuff.

I suppose you're right that all those folks make poor CHRISTIANS. But he concludes that that makes them poor CITIZENS. And that's the problem with Christian fundamentalists/nationalists. Taken to the extreme (and this is a glimpse of that extreme), they would remove rights from those insufficient Christians, rights that include voting and holding office. Also in the extreme women wouldn't vote or hold office. 

Hard to see how this is preferable, or for that matter much different, from Islamic states. 

Agaiin, this ideology used to be more fringe; now it's making inroads into Republican mainstream. 

As for what religion you'd be good at G, they all have that nasty GOD thing in there. But Judaism has been boiled down by some scholars over the centuries to pretty simple demands. Try this: "It has been told thee o' man, what is good and what the Lord doth require. It is to do good, love mercy and walk humbly with thy God". That's a pretty simple set of demands. Take out the "with thy God" part and it's pretty much NAP.
