The use of psychedelics, like psylocibin and ibogaine, have shown some significant ability to treat various psyche conditions. Both of these are plant derivatives. Money has been earmarked for more research. One reason for pushing this is that these meds may treat PTSD, an important motivator for action. Ibogaine has been shown to really kill drug cravings, like almost magically and rapidly.
This is a good action. Hope that research continues to show benefit.

March of 1998, somewhere on a hilltop in New Mexico about an hour or two outside of Santa Fe....was the LAST time I took psilocybin.

I've never been to NM. Hoping to do a grand SW road trip next summer. Gotta talk the wife into Telsa camping.

Spend at least a day in Sante Fe, in the town square in summer. Great city.

Skip Albuquerque.

Cool. Thanks! Will skip Sedona, too.

Been to the Southwest a few times. I get there by taking US 50 through southern Colorado. Visit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison briefly. At Montrose, go south on Colorado 550 (?) to Ouray. Truly charming town. Then through Durango/Silverton, beautiful drive. Self guided tour of Mesa Verde. West past 4 Corners to Monument Valley, US 160 to the Grand Canyon. You can come back through NM. I'm not that familiar with things in New Mexico. Went to Carlsbad Cavern, worth it for sure. I gave  away my pot stash while sharing with a couple of guys. Didn't want to get nailed during my residency.
Went to White Sands; it's a lot of white sand. Meh. There are LOTS of Native American sites in NM. My brother and wife love Santa Fe for sure.
If  you don't go to the Grand Canyon, then you're dead to me. It's a glorious site. Spend some time there; it takes a minute to appreciate the scope.

SOunds like a great road trip. I've only ever seen the grand canyon from the air. Obviously not quite the same....

Been to the GC a couple of times. I remember my backpacking friend and I drove 8000 miles around the country in 1970. OLD VW minibus. Very hippy-ish without the pot. When we got to the GC my friend's initial impression was, "Meh". But it grew on him over a period of hours. It just takes more than minute to fathom what you're looking at.
Now the bookstore carries a volume explaining how Noah's flood made the canyon. Sad, so sad.
