I called this one. Even some Republicans are calling a serious problem. They haven't used the "war crime" term, yet.
For comparison, I've been watching some docs on WWII. When the US Navy sank a Japanese ship, they RESCUED the survivors. Maritime laws of war called for this action for decades. It's not new.
When Hegseth ordered two survivors to be killed, he committed a war crime. Some call for his firing. They should call for his court martial. And Trump can't pardon a military conviction.
My bet is that it won't happen; but it should.
And this was an order than should NOT have been carried out; in case anyone needed an example. Even more obvious than what ICE and DHS are doing.
Are a few Republicans finally waking up to their responsibilities? Are there lines that can be crossed that they can't abide? That would be a good thing.
On one WWII doc they were showing the Battle of the Bulge. One small event that didn't get much exposure was that the Nazis executed some of the American POW's. And they got prosecuted. Even LESS publicized was that when they executed a group of BLACK artillery men, they WEREN'T prosecuted. Yup, racism even back then, even by the International Court. Ouch.
