Polio, still crazy after all these years

It's still around. 
I won't blame RFK or Trump for this. 
However, we've pulled support for the WHO; you know, the guys that eradicated smallpox. 
A goal was set in the late 80's to do the same for polio. But geopolitical strife has prevented vaccine programs to be as widespread as needed. Polio is very active in Pakistan and Afghanistan, where the original "wild-type" predominates. In places like the UK, Germany and Poland the virus is from the oral vaccine; which is weakened but can still cause mischief. 
The world would be better served if/when the US gets back with the WHO and makes a committed effort to eliminate this illness. Since it only affects humans there is the possibility of completely eliminating polio, just like smallpox. 
Today this isn't Trump/JFK's doing. But tomorrow?...............they still have time to screw it up.
