This may one thing that Trump does right. The drying up GSL is an environmental disaster slowly unfolding. Having Trump "get in bed" with environmental groups is really unexpected. 

The article here and on another site said that this has never been done before. NOT exactly true. Mono Lake in eastern California is a salt lake whose level has dropped like 40+ feet over the years. It is supplies by 5 creeks whose water has been diverted to Los Angeles (think Chinatown). But the lower lake level has created some environmental problems. Lawsuits required that the lake level be restored to a level adequate enough to protect the sensitive environment. it's actually been pretty much a done deal. So rescuing a salt lake isn't a new project. 

Further south in easter California is Owens Lake. I've driven by it for decades. It used to be a lake; but its water was also diverted to LA. But the lake bed is full of toxic dust; so it was also mandated to be refilled. It is slowly happening. 

The environment can win some of the time. Good luck to Utah.
