- You can’t make this stuff up: Austin Smith, a former Arizona state legislator who was a member of the Arizona Freedom Caucus — which has a history of spreading false claims of voter fraud — pleaded guilty last week to… voter fraud. During his reelection campaign in 2024, Smith reportedly forged more than 100 signatures on his nominating petitions.
- Smith also served in a leadership position at Turning Point Action — the advocacy arm of Turning Point USA, the conservative group founded by the late Charlie Kirk.
- As a member of the state legislature’s Freedom Caucus, Smith helped to spread false claims of election fraud in the 2020 election and pushed to pass a slew of anti-voting laws within the state. When Smith was indicted back in June, he dropped the reelection bid and resigned from Turning Point Action.
The French has an expression, "Qui s'excuse, s'accure".
Simple translation: "He who excuses himself, accuses himself". Pretty much applies to Trump and his entire cult. Always tossing bricks while gazing out of their glass house.
The Republicans are currently involved in massive efforts to limit voting access, using every lever that they can find.
Shorter voting times
Aiming for ALL voting to be in person one a single day
Needing an excuse to vote by mail. Living in a nursing home doesn't qualify.
No same day registration.
Heavy limits on student voters.
Etc.
And look where the real cheats are. "Qui s'excuse.................."
