Welcome to the Kansa City Diversity Coalition
About the Kansas City Diversity Coalition (KCDC):
The KCDC was organized in 1996 by the late Dr. David Shapiro as an adjunct entity to the Minority Museum which opened in 1991 in south Kansas City . It has no formal membership and no dues. We ask only that participants have an interest in discussing world-wide political issues, particularly emotionally charged topical (in recent headlines) issues, which could be impacted by one’s ethnic or regional personal perspective. Most current “members” are well educated (including from their life experiences); many have lived, worked or traveled extensively abroad and in other North American locales. The majority of us have had our opinions published on the Kansas City Star’s Editorial Page, from which new members are solicited. Although several of us are now semi-retired, from our vast experience, we speak with various degrees of expertise about the topics we discuss. Although over the years we've had a distinctive liberal philosophical bent, and remain so, in order to be truly “Diverse”, we have been successful in enlisting more conservative individuals and minorities who are knowledgeable and articulate spokespersons. This has enlivened our already stimulating spontaneous mini-debates. We gladly invite you to join us live and in person at one of our meetings to share your perspective and opinions with us.
