Thinkingabout integrating my Honeywell vista 20 into c4. I understand I need a 4232cbm module. My c4 main controller is a ea3 with no serial port. Can someone tell me what kind of adapter I will need? Besides the module and some serial adapter is there anything else I need? The alarm is not monitored.
thanks so something like this Female to DC3.5mm Serial Cable? Assuming I get that, how do I wire it to the module? I'm thinking i would just take a serial cable with two male outputs like this one? Then i just cut off one end and wire it to the module? Is that right or do they sell a serial cable with just bare wires on one end? Normally I'd have my dealer do the setup but due to COVID going to see if i can get everything plugged in myself and then just have my dealer to the programming remotely.
Yeah that cable would work, and you can actually just chop that one and wire it directly into the 4232. It'll be 3 wires. I think I've posted a document here with the wiring see if you can find it with a quick 4232cbm search, if not shoot me a DM I'll can shoot it to you when I get to the office tomorrow. Don't spend too much time looking for it I know I have it.
Oh man, I remember this being a real bitch when we did it, coincidentally two years ago almost to the day. Was working with a remote dealer as well so lots of back and forth. Ultimately had to tweak one of the settings noted in the CBM instruction sheet but I didn't write down exactly what it was, sorry. I remember both my dealer and my alarm company being stumped. Ultimately I came up with the winning settings combination and I got there by reading through the installation manual for my panel and catching something....damn I wish i could remember. I'm attaching the manual here, give it a read. Hopefully it will inspire you to find it.
The HSIM security integration module is a keypad emulator that connects to Honeywell Vista Alarm panels and provides a serial connection to a CLIQ controller. The HSIM is used in place of the 4232CBM. It is tested and certified for integration with the ClareHome system. Integration of the HSIM provides monitoring and control of Vista panels using the ClareHome UI.
After installing the Honeywell and HSIM module, connect the Honeywell to the CLIQ controller. The HSIM module connection requires a straight through connection. When using the CLIQ.host, use the provided null cable and a null modem adapter. When using the CLIQ.mini, you must use a USB to serial cable.
Note: The serial cable included with the CLIQ is a Null Modem cable. The HSIM module connection requires a straight through cable. For proper operation with the CLIQ serial cable, a null modem adapter must be installed between the DB9 end of the cable and the HSIM module. This converts the connection to straight through serial. The null modem adapter is not included with the CLIQ.host.
After installing and enabling the HSIM, add and configure the security module in Fusion. You will also define the zones that you created when installing the security panel. Follow the steps below to configure your security system in Fusion.
Frameworks is a completely configurable integration platform built specifically to manage the workflows in the construction industry. Using pre-built adapters and a process engine end users get the information they need when they want it. No manual syncing or duplicate data entry. And the flexibility to conform to your business processes.
Installing the Netware OS was actually pretty straightforward. There are no integration services offered for Netware so from the outset I knew that I would need to use legacy hardware options in the virtual machine.
The solution turned out to be really simple: as you step through the installation screens there is an option to allow unsupported drivers. By default that is set to no. If you change it to yes, the installation recognises the network adapter as an old DEC and loads a driver which works.
I will admit, this one drove me crazy for a while before my final epiphany. There is a Novell client for Windows Vista now available, but why build a Vista VPC when an XP one would need less horsepower?
Problem number one: In order to install the integration services I need to first uninstall Virtual Server Additions. No sweat, thinks I, clicking the uninstall button. Nope - you get a nice message saying that setup can only run inside a virtual machine!
Slightly surreal, I must say. I had to fire up the machine under Virtual PC and remove the additions, then copy the VHD back on the hyper-v server and start the system so I could install the integration services.
