Kannada Phrase of the Day – Revision B
baNNi: (please) come.
Let us review some usages of baNNi that Sham has presented thus far:
baNNi is used to address more than one person or to address a single
person with respect (again, the gender is neuter-- can be used for
both male and female persons)
uuTakke baNNi – Please come for meals (dinner or lunch).
tinDi tinnakke baNNi (Please come to eat breakfast).
Coffee kuDiyakke baNNi (Please come to drink Coffee)
ivattu namma manege tinDige baNNi. (Please come to our house for
breakfast today.)
naaLe namma manege tinDige baNNi. (Please come to our house for
breakfast tomorrow.)
naaDiddu namma manege tinDige baNNi.
(Please come to our house for breakfast the day after tomorrow.)
ace naaDiddu namma manege tinDige baNNi.
(Please come to our house for breakfast the third day after today.)
ivattu office inda beega baNNi. (Please come early from office
today.)

a as in “cut” / aa as in “ah”
i as in “it” / ii as in “eat”
u as in “put” / uu as in “tooth”
