While injury is always a risk in contact sport or athletic activity, Pop Warner has a medical advisory committee of neurosurgeons, sports medicine professionals, pediatricians and researchers that steer athlete safety protocols for football and cheer & dance. In football, we've instituted the nation's most advanced safety measures, including limiting contact to 25% of practice time; eliminating kickoffs and the three-point stance for our youngest divisions; banning full-speed, head-on tackling and blocking drills; and mandating that any player who suffers a suspected head injury receive medical clearance from a medical professional trained in concussion evaluation and management before returning to play. The same rigorous guidance is devoted to cheer & dance, as well. In addition, all Pop Warner coaches are required to get appropriate and relevant training and certifications each season.

Yes. Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. Those who do not meet this requirement, or home-schooled students can still play if they follow the alternative eligibility process which is monitored by progress reports.

At the time your child was awarded the scholarship, a cover letter with instructions was included with the scholarship. Please refer to that letter for next steps. This is how to best expedite funding. If you cannot locate the letter, feel free to email [email protected].

Modern gridirons are covered in football players when they're in use, but the original gridirons were more likely to be covered with meat or fish; they were metal gratings used for broiling food over an open fire. In Middle English, such a grating was called a gredil, a root that gave modern English both gridiron and griddle. How did gridiron become associated with football? That happened in the late 1800s, when a white grid pattern was added to football fields to help enforce new rules about how many yards a team had to gain to keep possession of the ball. From high up in the stands, the lines made the playing fields look like cooking gridirons.

Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) Gameday Shuttles to campus start three (3) hours prior to kickoff. These buses drop off guests (and pick them up after the game) at Walters Academic Building near the Students Union.

Guests can also choose to take a regular Knoxville Area Transit bus to campus. Five bus routes can get guests to Cumberland Ave. The cost is only $2.00 for a day pass and allows more fans the option to leave their vehicle at home.

Because of limited road capacity around the stadium, fans should anticipate that streets around campus will be congested for about one hour after the game. Incidents on the roadways or freeways can increase exiting time.

The personalized maps below show selected parking locations and recommended travel routes into campus for each (certain campus roads may be closed to traffic). Note: this information is subject to change with construction. Note: Lot 108 is NOT available for Thursday, 8/31 game.

The University's Campus Connector runs from West Bank to East Bank to St. Paul and operates on its weekend schedule (every 20 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Saturdays). Buses do not stop around the stadium, but follow a game day detour route. Detour route in effect four hours before kick-off and one hour post-game.

The University's University Avenue Circulator runs from West Bank to East Bank and operates on its weekend schedule (every 15 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Saturdays).

PTS and other University departments have partnered with local and state transportation officials to create a comprehensive parking and traffic plan for Gopher football fans to provide the best campus travel experience possible.

LIGHT RAIL

The Metro Transit Green Line links downtown Minneapolis, downtown St. Paul, the University of Minnesota and many neighborhoods. There is a convenient stop located just outside of Huntington Bank Stadium. The Stadium Village Station is located off 23rd Avenue on the south side of the stadium. Light rail trains operate every 10-15 minutes.

Park in one of 2,800 free Park & Ride spaces along the METRO Blue Line and purchase an Event 6-Hour Pass for $3.50 from the ticket machine on the rail station platform for easy round trip travel. Take the METRO Blue Line to the Downtown East Station, get off the train, board the METRO Green Line to the Stadium Village Station and enjoy the game. After the game, show your Event 6-Hour Pass to board the Green Line again.

Motorcycles are treated the same as cars. Motorcyclists can park in any cash lot for single game football parking by paying the public event rate or they can purchase a regular football season parking pass with their season tickets.

All charter operations are required to use the City of Minneapolis Charter Bus parking system. Buses will be assigned to designated zones near Huntington Bank Stadium and will need to display a printable permit.

The maps below provide a recommended travel route into and out of campus for each charter zone (certain campus roads may be closed to traffic). Note: this information is subject to change. Note: each map has MULTIPLE pages!
