Brave Orphan youth S. Udham singh

I want to remind you once again that the day has come when a great
person had lost his life for his countrymen.We salute him…..
( Hum apne shradda suman us shaheed ko bheth
kartein hain)

Sardar Udham Singh born on the 26th December,1899 in an ancient
historic town Sunam,district Sangrur..He became orphan at a very eary
age and got shelter alongwith his elsder brother Sardar Sadhu Singh in
Sikh Orphanage Putligarh,Amritsar.He got his education and training in
crafts there and setup a paintershop with signboard of Ram Mohammad
Singh Azad.the Massacre of Indians on Baisakhi Day 13th April,1919 at
Jallianwala Bagh,Amritsar by General Dyer changed the whole course of
the life of Sardar Udhma Singh.He resolved to wreck vengeance on the
perpetrators of the heinous crime : General Dyer ,Sir Michael O’
Dwyer,the lieutenant Governer,Punjab and Lord Zetland Secretary of
State of India.,Sardar Udham Singh moved from one country to another
country to shoot murderers of the countrymen.He was arrested in 1928
and imprisoned for 4 years..He was released in 1932.He reached London
through Germany where he joined training course to Hoodwink his
activities to trace General Dyer ,Sir Michael O’ Dwyer, and Lord
Zetland.The third culprit General Dyer had already expired. Sardar
Udham Singh procured a revolver ,after 21 years,it was on the 13th
march ,1940,when Sir Michael O’ Dwyer, and Lord Zetland had come to
attend a meeting in Caxton Hall in London.The great hero Sardar Udham
Singh also entered there with his revolver. Sir Michael O’ Dwyer
started to speak passionately making himself quite conspicuous. Sardar
Udham Singh gunned down him with his revolver.He fell down rolling on
the stage of his glory never to rise again.Now there was great and
pandemonium in the Hall. Sardar Udham Singh stood firm.He was
chained .On april 2nd ,1940 when he produced before the Magistrate,he
said :”I did the deed because Sir Michael O’ Dwyer wanted to crush
all our aspirations for freedom.I had been after him for full 21
years.I am happy that I have fulfilled my job.I am not afraid of
death”.He was sentenced to death.he kissed the gallows smilingly and
hanged on 31st july,1940,in the Pantone Villa Jail,London.The Indians
are proud of the sacrifices made by this Great Martyre,Udhma Singh.
