Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you can't view videos from the Photos app without an internet connection. Are you currently syncing your photos and videos with iCloud? If so, you'll want to check if you have your videos downloaded to your device by following these steps here: Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support
Navigate to Settings > Photos and select "Download and Keep Originals". This will download your videos directly to your device and won't require an internet connection to sync your data from iCloud. We hope this information is helpful. Cheers.
No that person is correct. My downloaded purchased shows , movies will not work without active internet. Nor will the loading screen populate a list or show up.before some say just use your data for the moment movies on your phone. What about the dead spots with no access? And the latest up load messed up my fixated account as well.
This means that you're using iCloud photo library and optimize phone storage. Therefore this content is stored in the cloud and not on your iPhone. That's why an internet connection is required. Apple didn't enable this, you did.
That's irrelevant if you have iCloud photo library and optimize phone storage enabled. The content of your photo library is not stored on your phone but in the cloud. If you don't want that then you need to turn off iCloud photo library.
It would almost seem from your description that the video is not completely or correctly recorded or that it is some how corrupted. From your description it appears that with the internet connection on - you are able to stream but not play it otherwise
Restore the phone and see - it almost seems like you are missing a codec required for playing the video - and that somehow being connected to the internet it is temporarily downloading a workaround -
I have exactly the same problem, I think it's to do with iCloud, I signed up to the beta version of the new Photos app which syncs all photos and videos with iCloud. However the only videos I can access without an Internet connection are the videos I've actually recorded on my iPhone6. The previous videos that I had stored can't be accessed without an Internet connection. If I have a slow connection or I'm out of a signal area such as roaming or on an airplane then I can't access anything And I just get the loading wheel on the screen. This must be a bug that can be fixed when they release the full updated Photos app, I hope!
